Inspiration for Living without Drinking
Are you afraid that your drinking is getting out of hand, but you're ashamed to admit it, and you're even more afraid to quit?
Today, I'm going to give you three things that will give you some inspiration to live without drinking.
You are so worth it
First of all, you're worth it. You really are. I know you may not realize it right now. But you are. It took me a while to realize that too, when I got sober. It wasn't until I was unsuccessful in my suicide attempt that I realized that I was worth it – the universe was telling me that I needed to stick around, that I still had work to do. After a while, you'll start to believe that you're worth it, really.
You will feel better
The second thing to consider, is that you're really going to feel better. You're not going to wake up with a hangover ever again. Your hands will stop shaking, your stomach will settle down, you'll sleep better. And you're just generally going to feel better once you get rid of the all the toxins in your system. Your body responds. I slept a lot the first week that I got sober because I think my body had so much detoxing to do. Give yourself a break. Know that this too will pass and you will feel better.
Your life will change
The third thing I want you to know is, your life will change. This is really the best part. Your life is going to get so much better! You're going to feel productive and you're going to be productive. You're going to enjoy life so much more. One of the things that I was afraid of when I got sober was that I was never going to have fun again. And that's just not true. I've had so much more fun, being sober than I ever did when I was drinking. When you decide to get sober, you have to make some decisions about who you hang out with where you hang out so that you don't compromise your sobriety. I will tell you that It is so worth it. And you'll thank yourself, you really will. This is the best gift I've ever given myself. And I'm grateful for it every day.
Have I inspired you?
I hope that this message serves as a nugget of inspiration to live without drinking. Before I got sober, I was looking everywhere for some inspiration that would help me get over the shame that I felt. It is okay to admit that you have a drinking problem and to ask for help. And so, that's what I want to do for you, is to give you that extra boost of inspiration. If your drinking is causing you distress, I want you to know that there is a better way.
