Last week was a bust – first week I’ve missed publishing my Snippet. Memorial Day and the weather that transpired got me off track and before I knew it, well, I figured I’d just skip it. Living life on life’s terms so to speak and trying for more fun and less resistance, which is a perfect segue into this week’s snippet.
Law of Attraction & The Art of Allowing
Yesterday I attended a workshop on the Law of Attraction & the Art of Allowing by Abraham-Hicks. Isn’t it funny that just writing that in black & white gives me goosebumps and makes me a little uncomfortable at the same time? You see, if you know who Abraham & Esther Hicks are, you think it’s awesome that I attended this workshop and understand the goosebumps. If, however, you don’t know anything about Abraham & Esther Hicks and the Law of Attraction, when I explain a bit more, you’ll understand why my perceived judgment (and associated eye rolling) from you makes me uncomfortable. Get it? No? Well, read on…
This is excerpt taken from the website www.abraham-hicks.com/about:
Sometimes no amount of words will do a subject justice.
Abraham is a name. A symbol. A feeling. Evocative-yet simple-like we want our names to be.
But who, or what, is/are, Abraham . . . really?
A veritable who’s-who of authors, speakers and teachers continue to publicly acknowledge and praise the immense value of the wisdom that is pouring forth through Esther.
Abraham has described themselves as “a group consciousness from the non-physical dimension” (which helps a lot!). They have also said, “We are that which you are. You are the leading edge of that which we are. We are that which is at the heart of all religions.”
“Jerry and Esther never used the word channeling,” Abraham reflects. “It is used when applied to them, but they have never used it, because it means many things of which they are not, you see.”
“You could leave the channeling out of it. Call it inspiration; that’s all it is. You don’t call the basketball player a channeler, but he is; he’s an extension of Source Energy. You don’t call the surgeon a channeler, but he is. You don’t call the musician, the magnificent master musician, you don’t call him a channeler, but he is. He’s channeling the broader essence of who he is into the specifics of what he is about.”
Esther herself calls Abraham “infinite intelligence,” and to Jerry they are “the purest form of love I’ve ever experienced.”
And sometimes—all is said with just one word.
Abraham. They just are what they are.
So, as I sat in the audience and watched Esther translate Abraham, I was inspired, energized and motivated to increase my self-awareness about how my thoughts create my reality.
As a Man Thinketh….
The Law of Attraction is just one of the twelve Spiritual Laws of the Universe. Abraham is most likely the most recent teacher on the subject. James Allen wrote a book, published in 1903 called As a Man Thinketh, which was influenced by a verse in the Bible from the Book of Proverbs, chapter 23, verse 7: “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”. In other words, what you think about, you bring about – whether you want to or not.
Let me give you a personal example…
I’m not proud of this story by any stretch of the imagination, but here goes: My Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer at the age of 59 and died at the age of 64. For at least twenty years, if not more, I thought to myself “if I can make it past the age of 59 without getting cancer, I’m home free”. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 58. I was thinking about cancer and getting to the age of 59 without a diagnosis so frequently that truly believed I created it. You may think I’m crazy, but there is so much proof that our minds are capable of either making us sick or making us well, that I believe this to be true.
The flip side…
On the bright side of this is my true belief that getting cancer has truly been a gift to me. I’ve been given the gift of life-really knowing what it is to enjoy being alive. To find and pursue the career of my dreams gives me such joy and gratitude. Yesterday I really absorbed the that when you are concentrating on the positive end of the stick, being happy, seeing the beauty in the world, it shifts your energy, you feel good and good things happen to you. When you look at the opposite end of the stick and concentrate on the negative, complaining, being angry, seeing the ugliness in the world, that shifts your energy too, you feel bad – and bad things tend to happen to you.
“The Law of Attraction Responds to Thoughts, Not Realities”
“The Law of Attraction is responding to your thought, not to your current reality. When you change the thought, your reality must follow suit. If things are going well for you, then focusing upon what is happening now will cause the Well-Being to continue, but if there are things happening now that are not pleasing, you must find a way of taking your attention away from those unwanted things.
You have the ability to quickly change your patterns of thought, and eventually…your life experience”.
~Abraham-Hicks
My name is Nancy McKay and I coach women, most of them are over 50, who are going though a major challenge in their lives and don’t know what the hell happened. They’re feeling lost and afraid because they don’t know what their future looks like. I help them figure out how to feel happy and at peace with their life.

One of best compliments I’ve received was “You helped me in seeing things from a different lens – I can’t believe I learned so much in one meeting! I can’t wait to see what else I learn from you.” Helping women make a shift in their thinking and in their lives thrills me to pieces and drives everything I do.
